Who We Are
Community Events at the Traphene Hickman Library are defined as anything that is open to all ages that happens in or outside off the library. We believe in providing events that celebrate the diversity of the community and that are educational and fun. Our library is a part of the city government and therefore we have a great opportunity of being involved in large city events. Opportunities to volunteer at these will be uploaded through this program as well.
What We Do
Both teen and adult volunteers have the chance to do a variety of activities that are helpful to the public and the library staff.
Volunteering for community events can include but are not limited to
- City Events (Holiday on the Hill, Scare on the Square, Country Day on the Hill, etc.)
- Library Cultural Events (Cinco de Mayo, Día de Muertos, Kwanzaa, etc.)
- Special Events (Summer Reading Kick-Off, etc.)
- Working the table for these events and giving out information about library services
- Working booths sponsored by the library such as activity tables
- Interacting with the community
- Setting up & tear down
- Pre-event prep work such as putting together kits, prepping supplies
We strive to have our volunteers use their talents, strengths, and to enjoy their time as volunteers.
