Who We Are

The Traphene Hickman Library's Youth Services Department strives to serve children, their caregivers, teachers, and members of the community. We present a wide variety of programs geared and tailored to various age groups from birth-tweens. Services offered reflect the culturally rich and diverse community that Cedar Hill is proud to have.

What We Do

Teen and adult volunteers have the chance to do a variety of activities that are helpful to the public and the library staff.

  • Volunteering in Youth Services can include but is not limited to:
  • Organization projects (organizing closets, maintaining youth spaces, day to day tasks, etc.)
  • Prepping for youth programs (putting together kits, prepping craft & storytime supplies, etc.)
  • Working youth programs (greeting, set up & tear down, interacting with the attendees, etc.)

Youth Programs can include but are not limited to:

  • Early Childhood Programs (Storytimes, etc.)
  • Elementary/Tween Programs (Gameboard Night, Crochet, STEM Mondays, etc.)
  • Teen Programs (Video Game Nights, Teen Tuesdays, etc.)
  • Family Programs (Family Movie Night, etc.)

We strive to have our volunteers use their talents, strengths, and to enjoy their time as volunteers.
